MBORIJNLAND RETURNS RAW MATERIALS AFTER INSULATING PAVILIONS IN THE CITY CENTRE OF ZOETERMEER

This week, André Leeflang of MBO Rijnland returned the raw materials of EverUse to the Circular Office Innovation Centre of TRIBOO in Zevenhuizen. A number of pavilions at the Warande in the city centre of Zoetermeer were insulated with the world's first circular insulation material with a negative CO2 footprint. Pieces of insulation that are no longer usable because of fresh cutting and would normally end up in the waste container were collected and returned to be turned into an EverUse insulation panel. In 15 minutes, otherwise worthless waste is turned into a valuable, reusable circular insulation panel. By returning EverUse to the producer, mboRijnland is doing its bit towards the development of the circular economy and the realisation of a waste-free society.

THIS IS COMING TO THE WARANDE IN THE CITY CENTRE AND THE GIFT SHOP IS ALREADY OPEN

A number of buildings on the Warande, the shopping area along the city park in the Stadshart and opposite Action, have been empty for years. The mboRijnland educational institution has moved in and is using the premises as a place to learn and work. To give Economics students practical experience, a gift shop has been opened. Giftstore mboRijnland is a school shop where students of mboRijnland can learn what it is like to run a shop. This is great for them, but also for us, because we have gained a nice gift shop where we can buy gifts like sheepskins, soap, mugs, postcards, home accessories and more.

STUDENTS EXPERIENCE AT FIRST HAND WHAT IT IS LIKE TO BE AN ENTREPRENEUR IN THE GIFT SHOP

According to initiator and project leader André Leeflang, the aim is for the students to experience at first hand what it is like to be a real entrepreneur in the gift shop. "The intention is that they will be able to run the shop cost-effectively. They experience the pressure that real entrepreneurs also go through on a daily basis.

POP-UP

The Giftstore is a pop-up shop where the collection changes regularly. Students learn in practice everything about sales, purchasing, customer contact and making the shop attractive, everything in the field of retail. Instructor Jessie van Leeuwen explains: "Entrepreneurs can rent a cupboard here in which they can offer their goods for sale. With the shop, we try to prepare students as well as possible for their step into the labour market.

HORECA

On the Warande is an empty space that in a while will be converted into a catering establishment called Da's mooi, where you can enjoy an American Diner. Diner@school and KinderPlaza will also be located opposite. Within these businesses, students from the Entree and Welzijn training programmes will gain practical experience.
