WHY JOHAN KING CHOOSES TRIBOO'S NO ELECTRIC SIT-STAND HOME WORKPLACE

Johan Koning of text agency LetterLuck is a copywriter who likes to work for companies that are involved in sustainable, responsible and green business. Although he doesn't always succeed: he tries to live in an environmentally aware way himself. He regularly swaps a pork chop for a veg burger, he may not drive an electric car but he does drive a second-hand hybrid and, when working from home, he wears a thicker jumper rather than turning the heating on to a cutting torch. There is still a lot of room for improvement when it comes to his desire to live more sustainably, but his height-adjustable circular sit-stand desk will not be the least of his worries.

WORKING BETWEEN BEDS, CUPBOARDS AND STORED FURNITURE WAS NO LONGER SUSTAINABLE

After almost 20 years of living in various rooms that had partly been transformed into offices, this year Johan invested in a space that he now really dares to call his office. It had to change, writing between beds, cupboards or other pieces of furniture stored in his workplace was no longer tenable. The old Ikea desk that was starting to fall apart was removed and replaced by a sit-stand desk to facilitate a healthy and varied working style.

WHEN I WAS TRYING TO MAKE A CHOICE I SAW A BLOG ABOUT THE NO ELECTRIC WORKPLACE

Through Jhon Campo, a customer of Johan's, he got in touch with Marc van der Heijden of TRIBOO. Both Jhon and Marc stand for sustainable, ecological and environmentally friendly interior solutions, and just when Johan was about to choose a circular workplace, Marc posted a blog on LinkedIn about his NO ELECTRIC workplace. A coincidence?

A DESK WITH WHICH I MAKE A STATEMENT FOR MYSELF

Johan contacted Marc and now, some time later, Johan writes his blog partly sitting and partly standing behind his circular sit-stand desk in a nice new office. A desk that, at least for me, makes a statement. Because it uses just as much electricity as my previous desk, but now it can be used in any height.

NO ELECTRICITY, LESS MATERIAL AND HEALTHY RAW MATERIALS

What Johan really likes about the No Electric is that you can change from sitting to standing work in a split second. Such a quick and easy height adjustment was exactly what he was looking for. In addition, it's great that it doesn't consume any electricity and therefore doesn't cause any CO2 emissions. In the longer term, you earn your money back and you don't burden the environment. A win-win situation.

YOU DON'T HAVE TO REUSE MATERIAL THAT YOU DON'T USE.

What he also considers to be a strong plus is the use of less material. He chose a #GREENGRIDZ desktop of 1600x800mm and 24mm thick. With this, he is working on a very strong lightweight desktop and saves 60% material compared to a traditional solid desktop. The light weight puts less strain on the mechanism of the desk. The desktop weighs 18 kilos less. And to put it simply, what you don't use, you don't have to reuse. In addition, the CO2 emissions are 60% lower and the desktop is made from a waste stream.

EVEN THE FINISHING OF THE #GREENGRIDZ DESK HAS BEEN THOUGHT THROUGH

The finishing of the #GREENGRIDZ desktop is done with ARPA FENIX Bloom, using lignin technology to significantly reduce the amount of phenol contained in the resin by 50%. Lignin is a natural polymer defined as the glue that holds wood fibres together.
