LCA #GREENGRIDZ

The LCA of #GREENGRIDZ provides insight into the environmental impact in the chain as a result of the production, transport and waste disposal of #GREENGRIDZ and thus provides insight into points of leverage for further improvement. The purpose of the report is to provide a verified LCA calculation so that the results can be published in an Environmental Product Declaration (EPD). The LCA was prepared using the NMD Determination Method version 1.0. (July 2020)2, including modification sheets [1]. This standard describes a working method for drawing up an LCA of a Dutch construction product, in addition to NEN-EN 15804 [2], ISO 14040 [3], ISO 14044 [4] and ISO14025 [5].

What is a life cycle assessment (LCA)

Sustainability and environmental performance play an increasingly important role in tendering and procurement. Environmental performance of products is measured with the help of the LCA method. Life Cycle Assessment (LCA) was developed in the 1980s as a scientific method for measuring the environmental impact of products, from raw material extraction to disposal, from cradle to grave. With the LCA we can express the environmental impact in numbers. This includes the energy consumption, the consumption of raw materials, the amount of waste released and the emissions to air, water and soil for each of the processes by which the product is made, from raw material to end product, including use, disposal and possible reuse. The result of an LCA is called an environmental profile. Based on this uniform system, the construction industry can provide reliable information to its customers.
